The Ashley Jo Story

As a singer-songwriter and recording artist pursuing a career in country music, 17-year old Ashley Jo is an artist with a completely unique story. It's a story that began not in a recording studio, but on the ice. When she is not making music, Ashley Jo plays the position of Goalie for her high school team, the Ridgefield Tigers.

Known to be a singer, Ashley Jo had been asked to sing the Star Spangled Banner at special game that was being played in tribute to a fallen classmate. The classmate, and fellow Tigers teammate, had taken ill, with a strange condition that baffled doctors at Yale Medical Center. The student has passed away very quickly, shocking and devastating everyone: friends, family, teachers and coaches.

Ashley skated out to center ice, in full pads, and Goalie uniform, choked with emotion, her wireless microphone went on the fritz, leaving Ashley to sing with only the raw power of her voice. Determined to persevere, and not wanting to let anyone down, she gave it everything she had, filling the hockey arena with her voice. At the end of the song, the audience roared with approval. By all accounts it was a stunningly beautiful and poignant performance.

A video of the fateful performance would end up on the News12 CT local news, and later shared by the New York Rangers. Then sharing the video on her own TikTok channel @AshleyJoMusic, the video went completely viral, having been seen 3.6 million times to date.

"I was not going to stop in that moment," the 15-year old sophomore had said. "I wanted to make sure that it was good, especially for my teammate and that my team knew I'd keep going and persevere through anything."

It was at Factory Underground Studio Norwalk, CT, where Ashley Jo would meet studio co-owner and record producer Ethan Isaac. The two began working together in 2022, with Isaac immediately impressed not only be her immense vocal power, but her advanced melodic and lyrical ability, not often found in such a young artist. Their first collaborative work, "Hand Me Down," contains a lyric Ashley Jo had written at 14 years of age.

Signing to Factory Underground Records, distributed by SRG/ILS, an aggregate to Virgin Music/Universal Music Group, in 2024, "Hand Me Down" was premiered by WKCK Kickin' Kountry on iHeart Radio, and has since been added to rotation on dozens of prominent country radios stations around the world. It has been streamed over 300,000 times on Spotify, and added to over 400 playlists.
